Hey besties! Normally, transferring between transit services is quick and easy. Maybe you cross the road, or walk across a bus terminal. That said, there are some transfers that are a bit more difficult for a variety of reasons. None of these, however, are as awkward as transferring between Line 4 at Leslie Station and bus route 115 Silver Hills, via Oriole GO. Some Background Context With two-hour transfer on Presto, and less people paying with ticket, token, or cash, memorizing transfer points is not a common practice. Prior to this, however, the TTC maintained a list of walking transfers, where two routes did not meet directly, but were close enough to justify permitting a transfer. The list can be found only on the old TTC website,  here , but note this list has not been updated in many years. As you can see, transferring between Line 4 at Leslie Station and the 115 Silver Hills route is permitted, by walking along the length of the Oriole GO Station platform. Map of route 115....

The route operates with one branch: 38A Highland Creek: Scarborough Centre to Rouge Hill GO Stn In addition, a second branch exists, but is currently suspended due to lack of pandemic traffic to UofT Scarborough: 38B Highland Creek: Scarborough Centre to UofT Scarborough Let's get into it! The Route Eastbound buses depart Scarborough Centre via the east entrance and McCowan, and head east on Ellesmere. For much of this stretch, they complement 95 York Mills, 133 Neilson and 995 York Mills Express service. The buses branch off Ellesmere by heading southeast on Military Trail, past UofT Scarborough, before heading east on Old Kingston. This route operates with two branches: 37A Islington: Islington Stn to Woodbine and Humberwood via Rexdale Blvd 37B Islington: Islington Stn to Steeles In addition, the 37B branch is duplicated by the 937 Islington Express. Let's get into it! The Route I will focus first on the 37B branch, because it's actually the major branch. Buses leave Islington Station via Bloor, and head straight up Islington, before turning onto Steeles to enter Islington/Steeles Loop. Between Bloor and Dundas, the built form is mainly apartments, but these front onto Cordova and Mabelle. From Dundas all the way to Dixon, Islington is entirely low-density, single-family homes. At Dixon, and until Bergamot, the route is mixed, with some apartment towers, townhomes, and single-family homes, as well as some industry just off of Islington.   Hey pals! Today we are looking at one of the busiest bus routes in the city, the 35 Jane! This route operates with two branches: 35A Jane: Jane Stn to Pioneer Village Stn 35B Jane: Jane Stn to Pioneer Village Stn via Hullmar In addition, the 35A branch is duplicated entirely by the 935 Jane Express route. Let's get into it! The Route The two branches of the 35 are not all that different: they diverge north of Finch and rejoin at Steeles. 35A buses leave Jane Station via Armadale and Bloor, before heading north on Bloor. For short sections, the route is supplemented by the 26 Dupont and 55 Warren Park routes. Jane is lined with dense, single-family homes until around Woolner, where there are high-rise apartments. A mix of high-rises and single-family homes continue until Lambton Avenue, when the route passes through the Eglinton Flats. The single-family homes resume around Weston.   So I was going to skip this route. Like its western counterpart, it is a busy and complicated route. However, I take the 34 much more than the 32, so I felt comfortable talking about it.  The 34 currently operates with three branches: 34A Eglinton East: Eglinton Stn to Kennedy Stn 34B Eglinton East: Don Mills & Wynford to Kennedy Stn 34C Eglinton East: Eglinton Stn to Flemingdon Park (Grenoble/Spanbridge) Let's get into this mainline route that will soon be replaced by LRT! But, now that the temperatures have passed 5 degrees, and I feel like I've taken a party drug, I'm back! Today we're working on the 33 Forest Hill route. I skipped the 32 because it would have been a lot of work, and I am lazy. The 33 operates with one branch: 33 Forest Hill: St Clair West Stn to Eglinton (Roselawn) This is one of TTC's lowest ridership routes. Let's get into it! The Route Northbound buses depart St Clair West Station via the eastbound streetcar ramp. They turn left from the right-of-way onto Spadina Road. The route travels north on Spadina Road until Eglinton. Due to Crosstown construction, the current loop is clockwise via Eglinton, Mayfair, Shallmar, Bathurst, Roselawn, Chaplin and Eglinton. This route is the 31 Greenwood, which operates with two branches: 31A Greenwood: Greenwood Station to Queen 31B Greenwood: Greenwood Station to Eastern Let's get into TTC's most reliable route! The Route Buses on both branches exit Greenwood Station via Strathmore, Linnsmore and Danforth. Buses then turn left onto Greenwood. North of the rail corridor, the east side is single-family homes, whereas the west is dominated by TTC's Greenwood Yard for Line 2. South of the rail corridor is mainly single-family homes. The two branches diverge at Queen. 31A buses loop clockwise via Queen, Hiltz and Dorothy. The stop at Dorothy/Greenwood is the only one served exclusively by the 31A. 31B buses loop counter-clockwise via Queen, Leslie, Eastern, Woodward, and Queen, to serve Canada Post on Eastern.   Hey! Today's route is the 30 High Park, which is one of TTC's newest routes, and also one of the shortest. During most of the year, the route operates with one branch: 30A High Park: High Park Stn to Runnymede On the weekends during summer, a second branch operates: 30B High Park: High Park to Runnymede via High Park Stn Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 30B branch did not operate in 2020. Since the route was introduced in late 2019, this branch has never operated. The Route The 30A branch leaves High Park Station's bus terminal by travelling north on High Park Avenue. The block until Glenlake is apartments, but the rest of High Park Avenue is single-family homes. Buses travel northwest on Dundas, running through a commercial area, supplementing the 40 Junction-Dundas West route. Buses end their trips in Runnymede Loop, located in the northwest corner of Runnymede and Dundas. The 30B branch covers the same route as the 30A, but travels through High Park Station. Southboun...

Today's route is the 29 Dufferin, which operates with two branches: 29A Dufferin: Wilson Stn to Exhibition (Dufferin Gate) 29C Dufferin: Wilson Stn to Exhibition (Princes' Gate) There is also the 929 Dufferin Express service, which operates during weekday daytimes and early evening. It offers limited stops, and duplicates the 29A... mainly. Sometimes it duplicates the 29C when construction limits access to Dufferin Gate Loop, like what will happen in January. This route is notorious for delays and being very busy, which has led it to being described at 'Sufferin on the Dufferin.' It is really hard to argue with this statement. The Route All 29 Dufferin buses depart the upper level of Wilson Station via west on Wilson and south on Dufferin. The stretch of Dufferin until Lawrence is a mix of industry, big-box stores, single-family homes, and Yorkdale Shopping Mall. Personally, this is one of my least favourite places to walk in the city.   Hey hey! It's been a while! I've been kind of busy. As I write this, my brain is fried so I apologize for the inevitable errors. Tough shit! Anyways, today's route is the 28 Bayview South, which operates with one branch: 28 Bayview South: Davisville Stn to Brick Works This route is an integral part of the TTC network, but as you will see, it is either supplementary to other services or has a niche function. The Route   Buses leave Davisville Station by turning left onto Yonge (unsignalized!). The bus then travels east along Davisville. This stretch features apartments west of Mt Pleasant and single-family homes east of it. This stretch entirely supplements the 11 Bayview. The routes diverge, with the 28 turning right onto Bayview. Until Sutherland, a distance of only a few hundred metres, the 28 is the only route. This stretch is relatively low-density. At Sutherland, the 88 South Leaside joins, only to turn onto Moore soon after. The 28 continues onto the Bayview Extensi...

Today's route is the 26 Dupont, which operates with one branch: 26 Dupont: Jane Stn to St George Stn The route was formerly the 4 Annette until 2001, but otherwise has not had any significant changes since 1968! Let's get into it. The Route Westbound 26 Dupont buses leave St George Stn bus terminal (located directly behind OISE) via north on Bedford. Bedford is entirely single-family homes. Buses then head west on Dupont. For the length of Dupont to about Symington, Dupont has single-family homes on the south side, and industrial on the north side, adjacent to the Midtown rail corridor. At Spadina, there is an on-street connection to Dupont Station. West of Dufferin, is the Galleria Mall, which is soon to be redeveloped into a high-rise community.  Beyond Symington, Dupont is lined by single-family homes on both sides. After crossing the (slightly) confusing intersection with Dundas, buses proceed onto Annette, which continues the theme of single-family homes. Buses...
